Our Wines

Delicate fine wines with silky textures, excellent concentration of flavours, synonymous with classic Tamar Valley wines.

2016 Viognier

This delicate white varietal was basket pressed to old oak creating a pale gold, delicate and luscious savoury palate.

Enjoy with all foods on any occasion.

Our winemaker says “this delicate wine is a feast for the senses with lovely silky texture of great length and fresh, perfumed and textured, savoury aspect

2016 Riesling

This crisp, dry and well balanced Riesling was gently pressed and matured to create depth, texture and flavour.

Enjoy now or in years to come.

Our  winemaker says “the palate is generous with excellent concentration of flavours of lime & grapefruit” “classic expression of Tamar Valley Riesling”

2016 Shiraz

Hand picked in April 2016, this wild fermented shiraz is maturing in French oak for release in late 2017. This premium cool climate shiraz exhibits complex, white spice characteristics which creates lingering and elegant mouth feel.

Our Vineyard

Waterton Hall is located on the pristine banks of the Tamar Valley 30 minutes north of Launceston. The gently sloping vineyard facing the Tamar River is ideal for the development and growth of both red and white varietals. The slow release of cool climate flavours brings about a depth of texture and the ability to create complex, expressive, and refined wines.

We currently have 2.5 hectares of Riesling, Shiraz and Viognier with the Riesling and Shiraz being extended in September 2017. In addition four new Pinot Noir clones and two new Chardonnay clones will be planted to extend the vineyard to 10 Hectares.

Healthy Soils for Productive Vines

Loam over clay soils are ideal for cool climate grape production  and produce classic Tamar Valley wines. Natural mulched animal fertilizer is used to boost soil nutrition and structure.

Integrated pest and disease management is practised to minimise inputs and maintain healthy vines. Grass sward is managed between the vines to maintain biodiversity and to minimise erosion.
